Nottingham Forest target Scott McKenna could be the new Virgil van Dijk – kind of!
The Aberdeen defender is seemingly a man in demand this summer, with the Reds one of a number of clubs to have shown an interest.
Both Forest and QPR are understood to have had bids turned down, while Hull City, Stoke City, Aston Villa and Celtic are also said to be keen.
McKenna, 22, is highly-rated and has already represented Scotland at international level; the Dons know they face a battle to keep him… but comparisons with Liverpool ace Van Dijk?!
Well, sort of…
Van Dijk made the move to Anfield from Southampton in January 2018 for £75m, a world record fee for a defender.
Aberdeen are said to value McKenna at somewhere around the £7-10m mark, so not quite in the same region as the Dutchman.

But his boss, Derek McInnes, believes the centre-back’s value will rocket – just like Van Dijk’s did – should he end up making the move to England.
“We have had this situation before with our league and have seen so many players go down to England where their valuation has increased pretty quickly,” McInnes told the Daily Record.
“Sometimes people have just played a handful of games and it has shot up.
“Look at Van Dijk, once he was in a Southampton strip he was worth a lot more.
“John McGinn is another and then you have Kenny McLean at Norwich. You can see why Celtic are digging their heels in over Kieran Tierney.”
