Nottingham Forest target Sam Byram has reportedly been offered to Championship rivals West Bromwich Albion as part of a £10m deal.
According to the Daily Star, the full-back’s parent club, West Ham United, made an offer to the Baggies for striker Salomon Rondon of £10m plus two players, which they believe to be Byram and forward Jordan Hugill - a bid which has been rejected.
Had it been successful, Byram would have linked up with former Hammers boss Slaven Bilic, who took charge at The Hawthorns this summer.
The defender impressed on loan at the City Ground despite his season being disrupted by injury.
Byram missed a large chunk of the campaign due to a knee problem which required surgery, but made his comeback in April and became a regular in the starting XI in the final games.
The Reds are keen to bring him back, as boss Martin O’Neill looks to put together a squad capable of mounting a promotion push.

It has been claimed West Ham would be prepared to let him go, with Byram, like Hugill, down the pecking order in the capital.
The report in the Star claims Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini is eager to link up again with Rondon, who had a successful loan spell at Newcastle United last term.
Pellegrini managed him while the pair were at Malaga, but it is said the Chilean needs to trim his squad before making any new signings.
The Star claim: “West Ham will need to increase their offer if they are to prise the 29-year-old forward away from The Hawthorns - but could move on to other targets if they are unsuccessful again.”
