Nottingham Forest-linked striker Mbaye Diagne is to be given a “last chance” to prove himself with Galatasaray, according to reports.
The 28-year-old, who is under contract until 2023, has returned to his parent club after a tough spell on loan at Belgian side Club Brugge came to an end.
Diagne is said to have attracted the interest of the Reds, as well as Championship rivals Leeds United and Premier League Watford.
Galatasaray have placed a 5m euros pricetag on his head, but seemingly haven’t ruled out hanging on to the front man.
Turkish newspaper Hurriyet say the Senegal international will link up with the squad again next month and boss Fatih Terim is prepared to give him a “last chance”.
They say the player is keen to stay with the club, but he will need to prove himself.
“However, the management will say ‘conditional yes’ to Diagne, who wants to return,” the report states.
“The club will offer Diagne a tight schedule of work, (as he) has been away from the fields for a long time, and will ask him to fulfil it completely.
“He will also be warned about the use of social media, which has received a lot of reaction to the star name.
“Galatasaray will keep Diagne on the staff if he uses the chance given to him well.”
A cryptic Instagram post last month attracted much attention, when the forward seemed to hint at a move to the City Ground.
Alongside a picture of himself in Champions League action, a Forest badge was edited into the shot and he wrote: “Destiny is written and the truth remains. Thank you very much, my God. I accept everything you do for me.”
He later insisted: "I posted it but I didn't realise what was on it, and it certainly wasn't anything official. But once it was done, it was done. It wasn't intentional."
Hurriyet add, however: “(If) a good offer comes for the Senegalese player, it will be acted (upon) according to the situation, conditions and performance.”
