Nottingham Forest target holds transfer talks as midfielder update emerges

Taylor talks

Former Charlton Athletic striker Lyle Taylor is reported to be in talks with Scottish champions Celtic.

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a summer move for the front man, who is a free agent after his contract with Charlton expired.

Forest are said to be among at least 10 clubs chasing the 30-year-old.

Celtic's arch rivals Rangers were one of those clubs but this week bolstered their attacking options by signing Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten.

Spotted

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis was in the Midlands on Thursday night to watch Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Olympiacos in the Europa League.

Marinakis, who also owns Olympiacos, is understood to have met with Forest head coach Sabri Lamouchi and other club staff in Greece in recent days as the fallout to the 2019-20 campaign continues.

It seems Marinakis then travelled to England to attend the much delayed round of 16 second leg tie at Molineux.

The tie was finely poised at 1-1 after the first leg on March 12 - just before the coronavirus pandemic caused football around the world to be halted.

Another loan?

Nottingham Forest plan to send Jake Taylor out on loan to a League One club, claims Port Vale boss John Askey.

The 21-year-old midfielder impressed during a season-long loan at League Two Vale last season - and Askey had been eager to strike another deal with the Reds ahead of the new campaign.

But, after signing midfielder Danny Whitehead, Askey said : “I think it was always going to be difficult with Jake with him doing well for us.

"I think Forest are going to be looking to get him playing in League One, and I am sure there will be interest for him in League One."

Ariyibi speaks out

Gboly Ariyibi tried to prove Nottingham Forest wrong but had to leave the City Ground when his attempts fell flat.

The winger failed to make a single appearance for the Reds in two-and-a-half years at the club, and left last summer for Greek side Panetolikos.

During his time at Forest, Ariyibi had loan spells at MK Dons, Northampton, and Motherwell, and hoped in each case to show the managers back in Nottingham what they were missing.

But he says it became increasingly apparent he would never get his chance, and so moved to the Greek Super League last summer, with a year still left on his deal at the City Ground.
