Nottingham Forest 'target' Abel Hernandez has a new club in Qatar

Nottingham Forest had been linked with a move for Abel Hernandez this summer, but the Uruguay international has now joined Al Ahli on a free transfer.

The former Hull City striker was a reported target of the Reds after being released by Russian side CSKA Moscow.

However, he will now ply his trade in Qatar. Another Qatari side, Al-Rayyan, were also said to be keen, along with Turkish team Trabzonspor and his former club in his homeland, Penarol.

Hernandez spent four years at Hull, between 2014 and 2018, scoring 39 times in 111 appearances.

The 28-year-old has not played for Urugauy for two years with world class strikers keeping him out of the side in Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani. He has won 28 caps for his country.
