Nottingham Forest taking 'precautions' amid warnings ahead of Middlesbrough clash

Nottingham Forest are hoping Storm Christoph will not scupper their Championship clash with Middlesbrough tomorrow night.

The Reds are looking to extend their unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions at the City Ground.

However, weather warnings for the area have been issued as heavy rain is expected in the build-up to the match, with the pitch covered in a bid to ensure it goes ahead.

Darren Fletcher shares the story behind how Neil Warnock almost became Nottingham Forest manager

“We’ve very much taken the correct precautions,” boss Chris Hughton told NottinghamshireLive.

“But there is a lot of rain expected and we had a game called off last season (against Reading) because of waterlogged pitch.

“We have taken the precautions, and we just hope that it is all okay.

“But at this moment, we are expecting it to go ahead.”

Boro boss Neil Warnock says he is concerned the match may fall victim to the weather.

He told BBC Tees: "It will be difficult conditions because they're expecting horrendous rain, it wouldn't surprise me if it was off. Blackburn (against Swansea City) has just been called off.

"Benno (Ian Bennett, Middlesbrough's goalkeeping coach who joined from Forest) was telling me down in the bottom corner where the away fans usually are it's horrendous.

"They've told us they're putting a tent up to try and keep it on but they're expecting a month's rain in two days down there in Nottingham and that area. We'll have to see what's what."
