Striker linked

Nottingham Forest look to have gazumped Panathinaikos in the race for 20-year-old Greek striker Fotis Ioannidis.

Reports in the country claim the Levadiakos frontman had been on the verge of signing for Olympiacos’ great city rivals that was until Forest’s head of international recruitment Jose Anigo muscled in on the deal.

Sports media outlet SDNA claim Anigo, who managed Ioannidis during his spell as manager at Levadia, has used his influence to broker a move and bring the Greek Under-21 international to England.

According to Football Insider, a West Ham source says the Iron are ‘holding fire’ on a making a formal move for Cash, who celebrated his 23rd birthday on Friday.

Forest’s last game in the North division was a thumping 5-0 win at Bolton Wanderers, their fifth victory in six league and cup outings.
