Nottingham Forest suffer striker injury blow ahead of crucial West Brom trip

Nottingham Forest have been dealt a potential injury blow less than 24 hours before their Sky Bet Championship match against West Bromwich Albion.

The Reds are due to face the Baggies at The Hawthorns in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, with both clubs keen to claim all three points for their respective promotion ambitions.

With striker Lewis Grabban a doubt for the clash, sections of Forest fans called for Sabri Lamouchi to give January signing Nuno da Costa his first start since his arrival from Strasbourg.

The 29-year-old was included in the starting XI of the Reds under’23s clash against Crewe Alexandra on Friday afternoon, along with fellow first-team players John Bostock and Michael Hefele.

But in the 29th minute, da Costa was forced to depart early due to an unspecified injury, and was replaced by Liam Sole.

The Cape Verde international has made one first-team appearance for Forest since his move from France, appearing as a substitute in the Reds’ 1-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night.

The news of da Costa’s injury will provide a selection headache for Lamouchi, who has Grabban currently recovering from a knee problem.

That leaves Tyler Walker as the likely candidate to lead the line for Forest in their match against the Baggies on Saturday afternoon, should Grabban not be available for selection.
