Nottingham Forest suffer major new injury blow on eve of West Ham clash

Nottingham Forest have suffered a potential major injury blow with the news Scott McKenna could miss their first home game of the season against West Ham.

The Scotland international picked up an unspecified knock in training this week and looks likely to miss the Premier League fixture at the City Ground on Sunday.

"He's picked up something in training unfortunately and is a big doubt. We'll give him every chance," head coach Steve Cooper said. "If he doesn't make it then it gives someone else a chance and we look forward to being the best we can be at the weekend."

Otherwise the squad is as it was against Newcastle United last weekend. That means central defender Steve Cook and midfielder Ryan Yates are both still out injured. McKenna's injury will be a major concern as it means two of the team's three defensive lynchpins from last season are out.

Giulian Biancone will likely come in for his debut on the right-hand side of the back three after his summer move from Troyes with Joe Worrall moving to the middle and Moussa Niakhate shifting to the left. The alternative would be to play a back four but that seems less likely given Forest have focussed on playing with wing-backs under Cooper.
