Nottingham Forest suffer major injury blow ahead of Coventry City clash

Nottingham Forest have been dealt an injury blow with the news Scott McKenna is expected to be sidelined for “weeks rather than days”.

The defender suffered an ankle problem in training, which ruled him out of Saturday’s stalemate with Barnsley.

And he is now facing a spell out of action, having already missed several games earlier in the season, also due to an ankle issue.

Reds boss Chris Hughton is hoping to get some midfield reinforcements back in the near future, however.

It is an area of the pitch where numbers had been depleted, prior to the arrival of James Garner on loan from Manchester United over the weekend.

Samba Sow is a doubt for tomorrow night’s clash with Coventry City after hurting his ankle in the weekend’s 0-0 draw.

Ryan Yates (calf) and Jack Colback (ankle) will also be absent against the Sky Blues, but are edging closer to comebacks.

Harry Arter (calf) has also been sidelined, though there has been speculation about the midfielder’s future ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline.

“Samba Sow will be touch and go for tomorrow,” said Hughton.

“Jack Colback has been back in training, which is a big plus for us.

“Yatesy, we’re hoping, is going to train next week. But the likelihood is he’ll miss tomorrow night and Saturday.

“We’re still waiting for Scott’s to settle down. But at the moment, I think it’s certainly going to be a matter of weeks than it is days.

“It is very much a blow.

“We missed him for a small period earlier in the season as well.

“But that’s what your squad is for. What you’ve got to be able to do is adapt to these situations.

“I feel more for him, because he’s been very good for us in the games he’s played.”
