Nottingham Forest suffer blow as transfer decision made

Nottingham Forest have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Jacob Murphy after Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce said the winger would not be leaving the club on loan.

The Reds were one of several clubs said to be interested in signing the wideman after he impressed during a spell on loan at Sheffield Wednesday last season.

Murphy starred in the Magpies' 7-0 rout of Morecambe in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night with Steve Bruce asked about his player's future after the game.

And Bruce said: "I won't be letting him out on loan.

"He deserves to stay with us and he's improved enormously. He's had a really good pre-season and has shown a great attitude. He's benefited from being out on loan last season and has really given us food for thought."

Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi  confirmed earlier this week that he wants a winger through the door at the City Ground to finish what has been a hectic transfer window at the City Ground.

The Reds have made a plethora of signings as the Reds look to bounce back from seeing a top-six finish slip from their grasp on the final day of last season.

In what has been an impressive summer of business the club has recruited the likes of Lyle Taylor, Jack Colback, Cyrus Christie and Harry Arter.
