Nottingham Forest submit second bid to try and complete transfer - reports

Nottingham Forest have reportedly submitted another bid for defender Oumar Gonzalez.

The Reds were first linked with the Chambly defender back in May were said to have sent a seven-figure offer to the Ligue 2 side for their 22-year-old centre-back.

French media outlet Le Parisien said Sabri Lamouchi's side had firmed up their interest in the former Metz player with Chambly president Fulvio Luzi confirming that the bid had come from a Championship club.

Now France Football are reporting that Forest have returned with a second bid of around €700,000 as the player enters the final year of his contract.

And it is being said that should the Cameroon Under-23 international depart the Stade des Marais, Metz will be entitled to a percentage of the fee because of a sell-on clause inserted into his contract when he left the club last year.

Gonzalez made 22 appearances in all competitions for Chambly, whose season was ended prematurely because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Chambly ended the 2019-20 season in tenth place, wit 32 goals conceded in 28 matches.

Last season was Gonzalez's first taste of second tier football, having made 66 appearances in the division below.

Forest currently have Tobias Figueiredo, Joe Worrall, Yohan Benalouane, Michael Hefele and Michael Dawson as the club's centre-back options.

Dawson signed a fresh one-year extension in June to remain at the City Ground for another year.

Figueiredo and Worrall are the starting pair.
