Nottingham Forest striker 'target' makes transfer decision - reports

Striker Jonathan Kodjia is almost certain to leave Aston Villa this month, but his destination will not be Nottingham Forest.

The in-demand Ivorian is set for a move to Qatar where he would link up with former Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic, a manager incidentally wanted by the Reds previously.

Reports in the national media on Thursday afternoon claim the 30-year-old promotion winner will join Al-Gharafa, with Kodjia currently in talks with the club over a move to the Gulf state.

As speculation continues to mount around Boss Dean Smith confirmed that the frontman would be able to leave the club this month if a suitable offer was forthcoming, though he did suggest there was nothing imminent, with Forest keeping tabs on the situation.

“No. Everyone knows Jonathan's out of contract at the end of the season,” he said.

“At his age, he's allowed to talk to clubs at the moment.

“He hasn't trained with us this week and won't be involved on Saturday."

Villa meanwhile, are expected to complete the £10m signing of Genk striker Mbwana Samatta before the weekend, which could further pave the way for Kodija's departure.
