Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings set for 'shock' move

Jason Cummings has been linked with a move back to Scotland following his goal for Nottingham Forest’s Under-23s in their 2-1 defeat at Mansfield Town last night.

Reports in Scotland say the 23-year-old is on the verge of completing a 'shock' loan move to Premiership side St Johnstone, having fallen out of favour at the City Ground, and is expected at McDiarmid Park in Perth on Wednesday to complete formalities of a move.

Cummings hasn’t played for Forest’s first team in nearly two years, with his last outing coming in what proved to be Mark Warburton’s final match in charge against Sunderland in December 2017.

Since then, the Scotland international has spent time out on loan at Rangers, Peterborough United and more recently Luton Town.

Following his arrival from Scottish Premiership outfit Hibernian, the striker has made just 17 appearances for Forest, scoring three times – and has a year left on his Trentside deal.

Although Cummings made a bright start to life at the Weston Homes Stadium with Posh last term, his form began to tail off and he hit the headlines for the wrong reasons in October,  when footage emerged of him trashing a flat.

His loan spell was cut short in January and he saw out the season with the Hatters, where he featured just five times, scoring once.

Having returned to pre-season training at the City Ground last month, Cummings has been working with the Under-23 setup.
