Nottingham Forest striker could be set for summer exit as fresh Joe Worrall interest emerges

Nottingham Forest striker Lyle Taylor is believed to be a target for Championship rivals Stoke City.

The 31-year-old found himself down the pecking order at the City Ground after joining the Reds last summer.

And he has been at the centre of transfer speculation in recent days, with Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers and Barnsley all linked with a loan move.

The Potters are also understood to be keeping track of him.

And the Daily Mirror report they are set to open talks over signing the forward, with Forest willing to listen for offers.

Taylor only signed for the Reds as a free agent last summer, after leaving Charlton Athletic, but found himself down the pecking order during his first season at the club.

Worrall latest

With the summer transfer window now officially open, one of the big Nottingham Forest talking points is the future of defender Joe Worrall.

The centre-back’s form has once again seen him catch the eye of Premier League clubs, having picked up two Player of the Year awards from Reds supporters.

The chances are Forest will have their resolve tested and have a decision to make at some point over the coming weeks.

Burnley seem the most likely to show their hand - but that could depend on the situation around boss Sean Dyche’s contract.

Norwich City, Crystal Palace and West Ham United have also all understood to have been casting admiring glances towards the 24-year-old. And newly-promoted Brentford are said to be the latest club to show an interest as they prepare for life in the top-flight.

Striker Charlie Wyke is said to be considering “alternative offers” amid links to Nottingham Forest.

Sunderland reportedly remain in talks with the 28-year-old over extending his stay, as his contract comes to an end.

But his future is still up in the air as a number of teams chase his signature.

According to The Northern Echo, the Black Cats are continuing to hold discussions with four players who have been offered new deals, ahead of their current ones expiring this month - with Wyke being one.

Transfer priority

Much like the onset of a new season, the opening of the summer transfer window always brings with it fresh optimism.

There’s always the hope that this time, surely, Nottingham Forest can get it right. They can put together a squad with enough quality and strength in depth to challenge for the top six.

That is certainly the aim for boss Chris Hughton.

Fans always want signings to happen quickly, particularly as the weeks stretch by without any matches to keep us preoccupied or dominate debate.
