Nottingham Forest step up preparations with friendly victory over Premier League Wolves

Nottingham Forest beat Premier League Wolves 2-0 in a friendly as they build-up towards the season restarting.

The Championship campaign will get back underway on June 20, after being suspended since March due to the coronavirus crisis.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side will make the trip to face Sheffield Wednesday on that day, and continued their preparations today with a match against Wanderers.

As with league games, the meeting between the two teams took place behind closed doors at Molineux, without any media present - and no mention has officially been made of it by either club.

But a penalty from Tyler Walker and a goal from John Bostock handed the Reds victory.

Forest returned to training at the Nigel Doughty Academy a little more than two weeks ago, initially on a non-contact basis.

They have previously played a practice match between members of the squad at the City Ground, as they get used to competing in the stadium without any fans.

And today they took on a Wolves side which is said to have contained a mixture of first-team and under-23 players.

For both teams, the run-out will have been more about increasing fitness levels ahead of resuming their campaigns.

There was no official referee or assistant referees present and only a limited number of personnel were allowed into the ground.

The Reds will be aiming to secure a top-flight place of their own when the season gets back underway.

They currently sit fifth in the second tier table, with nine matches remaining.
