Nottingham Forest midfielder Ryan Yates says they face a fight to keep James Garner this summer.
Garner has enjoyed an impressive half-season on loan at Forest from Manchester United, with his performances in midfield catching the eye for Chris Hughton's side.
With three goals in 19 appearances, being an almost ever-present since he joined Forest, the Championship side are keen to keep Garner.
Yet the 20-year-old's form has not gone unnoticed elsewhere, with his agent revealing that Brighton, Norwich City and Rangers are all fans of the player.
Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live, Yates says it is no surprise that other clubs are interested in Garner.
He said: "He’s a quality player. Teams are going to want him, of course they are, if you’re performing well at his age.
"He’s a Manchester United player, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if other teams want him.
"It’s completely down to him - what’s best for his development.
"He’ll eventually want to play consistently in the Premier League one day.
"Of course we’d love to keep him. We want quality players in every position, especially if we’re fighting at the right end of the table next year - if he came back, that would only benefit us."
Yates believes that Garner will benefit from more time in the Championship, arguing that the midfielder will learn from playing in scrappy matches, having already impressed against the better footballing sides in the division.
Garner put in a starring performance against high-flying Brentford recently, but Yates says not every game in the Championship will be like that.
He said: "Everyone knows he’s a top player. He’s got fantastic quality.
"From the moment he came in, you could see that quality he possesses.
"He’d say himself, he’ll have learnt a lot from some of these games.
"In the Brentford game, for example, he was fantastic - getting on the ball and being on the front foot. He had a lot more time on the ball, on a better pitch. He looked great.
"But this is the Championship and most games aren’t going to be like that - the Cardiffs, the Birminghams, the Rotherhams.
"Next season, if we’re winning those games consistently and adding more quality, we’re going to be right up there."
