Nottingham Forest star leaves club immediately amid Cardiff City interest

Cardiff City target Albert Adomah is now a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest by mutual consent.

However, sources close to the player have suggested that a return to the Welsh capital remains unlikely.

The 32-year old has left the City Ground after failing to nail down a regular first team place since his arrival on a free transfer last summer.

A statement released by the club on Friday afternoon read: "Nottingham Forest can confirm that Albert Adomah has left the club by mutual consent.

"The club would like to thank Albert for his efforts during his time at the City Ground and wish him well for the future."

Adomah is yet to play a single minute of first team football for the Reds this season, and was largely restricted to appearances off the bench last term, before being loaned out to the Bluebirds on the final day of the January transfer window.

The veteran proved a big hit with fans, and boss Neil Harris, who was left fuming when Forest recalled the player shortly after the season's restart.

Harris remains a keen admirer of Adomah, and admitted this week that the forward was still on his radar, although he played down suggestions of a possible move in this window.

"Albert did great for me, I’m really fond of Albert," Harris said.

"At the moment, we have four wide players at the moment that are all desperate to play.

"Albert will always be on my radar because he’s a really good bloke and his record in a Cardiff shirt was very impressive.

"Albert is certainly a player, if given the opportunity, I would love to work with again. Will that be in this window? I'm not sure about that."

It's understood that the latest development is unlikely to change the situation.

Queens Park Rangers are also interested in making a move for the winger and, while City boss Harris is clearly an admirer, a move to the Bluebirds remains unlikely at present.
