Nottingham Forest star explains why Jack Robinson will benefit from City Ground exit

Nottingham Forest captain Michael Dawson explains why he thinks Jack Robinson will enjoy his time with Sheffield United.

Robinson recently left the Reds to sign for the Blades in a £1m deal, ending his 18-month stay at the City Ground.

During his time on Trentside, Robinson made 59 appearances and scored two goals, both of which came in his debut season in 2018/19.

Robinson started his career at Liverpool, and later had spells with Blackpool, Queens Park Rangers and then Forest, before moving to Bramall Lane.

Dawson has praised the style of play at United under manager Chris Wilder, and believes Robinson will feel at home at his new club.

“I love how Sheffield United play,” Dawson told The Athletic.

“I’m not sure all that overlapping would be right for me at this stage of my career, though I did play in a back three under Steve Bruce at Hull.

“You tend to get dragged into the full-back’s area at times and that won’t be a problem for Jack (Robinson). He’s a good defender.

“I’d say 95 per cent of his games for Forest were at left-back but he also played in the middle from time to time.

“He’s brave and heads the ball well. He also has this lovely left foot, so I can see Sheffield United’s system suiting him.

“They’ve done brilliantly and are good to watch. We beat them last season but you only have to see how they’ve pushed on to realise what a good club Jack has joined.”
