Nottingham Forest star drops hint about stunning Rangers return

Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall has refused to rule out a potential Rangers return, after admitting he was ‘gobsmacked’ to have had the opportunity to play there.

Worrall spent last season at Ibrox and made 32 appearances in all competitions.

After being frozen out by Aitor Karanka, the 23-year-old has forced his way into Sabri Lamouchi’s starting XI, becoming a regular this season.

In an interview wth BBC Radio Five Live, Worrall sang the praises of Gers boss Steven Gerrard and hinted that he could return to Glasgow before his playing career is over.

He said: “It was incredible. I knew all about Rangers before I went up there and I was gobsmacked to be able to have the opportunity.

“Steven Gerrard was brilliant with me. I thought Forest was a big club but Rangers is absolutely humongous.

"Just going out on the street and seeing the people and what they're like and their attitude toward football.

"It's different to anything I've ever experienced and probably ever will unless I return.

"When Karanka came in I wasn't part of his plans so to be able to go there, I appreciate the opportunity I've got and took it with both hands and returned a better player."

Worrall signed a contract extension with the Reds in February of this year, a deal that will keep him with the club until 2024.

That move came as Premier League clubs Arsenal and Sheffield United were linked with the Hucknall-born defender in recent months.
