Nottingham Forest star addresses shock AC Milan transfer interest

Nottingham Forest star Matty Cash has given little away when quizzed about AC Milan’s January interest in him.

The 22-year-old’s sterling form at right-back this season saw him catch the eye of a number of clubs during the transfer window, with several Premier League sides linked, as well as the Italian giants.

Cash has said before that he “didn’t want to go anywhere”, despite all the speculation.

But he was coy when revisiting the subject with Sky Sports during the current suspension in the Championship campaign.

“My agent had a few chats with me,” he said with a grin. “I think they had a few conversations.

“But I had a job to do at the time and we had a few games coming up, so I had to focus on that.

“But yeah, obviously I heard about it!”

Cash has excelled in his new defensive role for the Reds, having been converted from a midfielder by head coach Sabri Lamouchi.

And he is determined to keep learning from the best, watching clips of Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

“You look at the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, he’s unbelievable,” said the Nigel Doughty Academy product.

“In that position, he’s unbelievable. I look up to him massively.

“I watch loads of clips of him on how to cross a ball.

“For our team, to be able to get forward, when you’ve got the likes of Samba Sow and Ben Watson in there, it gives me more freedom to go.

“We’ve got Yuri (Ribeiro) on the left side who likes to go as well.

“It’s finding the balance between me and him, because we both like to go so much. When I go, he needs to stay and when he goes, I need to stay.

“I love getting forward. I love getting crosses in the box and getting shots off.

“But sometimes I get a bit too giddy, so the manager has to tell me!”
