Nottingham Forest stadium designer reports strong year with healthy turnover boost

Bosses at the architecture firm tasked with redeveloping Nottingham Forest's stadium have hinted at further expansion after a successful year.

Benoy reported a turnover boost of more than £2.5 million for the year ended 31 December 2018, to £52.5 million, while profits for the year stood at £4.8 million.

Graham Cartledge CBE, chairman of the global company, which is headquartered in Nottinghamshire and employs 430 people, said revenue growth had allowed the firm to invest in IT infrastructure and its geographic presence. This included strengthening its Singapore office.

Mr Cartledge added: "2018 saw us add a landscaping capability to the Handley House (headquarters) portfolio with the creation of our Uncommon Land business. This now allows us to offer a range of solutions from design solutions for the built environment, to wayfinding, graphic design and landscape.

"The businesses remain agile, enabling them to take advantage of opportunities, numerous collaborations and further expansion, and looks forward to continuing to deliver world-class projects designed by exceptionally talented staff in 2019 and beyond."

The redevelopment of Nottingham Forest's City Ground is among its most high profile projects. When complete, the stadium will have an increased capacity of 38,000, a new Peter Taylor Stand and upgraded facilities throughout.

In June, Tom Cartledge, Benoy's CEO, confirmed the plans were gathering pace as a series of public consultations got under way.

Mr Cartledge said: "The public consultations are brilliant and our design team receives all the feedback and considers how we can include as many of the ideas as possible.

"The design is progressing at pace and we all have a responsibility to ensure our forever home is world class.”
