Nottingham Forest spell comes to an end for on-loan midfield trio

Nottingham Forest appear to have confirmed the return of this season’s loan players to their parent clubs.

The Reds have yet to release their retained list, following the end of the Championship season.

But they had three players on loan whose contracts have expired at the conclusion of the campaign.

And although it will not come as a great surprise, the profiles of Adama Diakhaby, John Bostock and Alfa Semedo have been removed from the list of first-team players on the club’s website.

Ben Watson and Jordan Smith remain on there, although they too, are set to see their current deals run out.

Forest are understood to have an option to make Diakhaby’s move a permanent one, but it is unlikely they will take it up after the winger struggled to impress during his time at the City Ground.

The Huddersfield Town man joined the Reds in January but was largely used in a substitutes’ role, with 12 of his 14 appearances coming from off the bench.

Bostock, too, found regular game time difficult to come by during his year on loan from Toulouse.

He featured nine times in total, just three of those games coming in the starting XI.

Benfica midfielder Semedo made 26 appearances, scoring two goals, and played only twice since the season’s restart.

All three players extended their contracts to see out the final nine games, following football's resumption. Arijanet Muric was the only loanee not to put pen to paper as he returned to Manchester City, with his loan expiring on June 30.

With the summer transfer window now open, Forest are able to add to their squad as they look to go again with a promotion push next term.
