Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal to sign Greek midfielder Alexandros Sarantis.
The 17-year-old arrives from the AEK Athens academy, and will join up with the Reds’ Under-18 squad at Wilford Lane, becoming the latest youngster from Greece to be given a chance to impress in the East Midlands
His father, Grigoris, was until recently, heavily involved with the funding of AEK’s youth academies.
Sarantis, a Greek Under-17 international joined AEK in 2015 and will link up with Forest’s youngsters, still celebrating their recent success.
Chris Cohen Under-23 side were crowned Professional Development League earlier this month, after their campaign came to a shuddering halt having won 14 of their 21 matches, losing just twice.
"I'm delighted for the whole academy set-up,” said academy chief Gary Brazil .
“Every member of staff involved through all the age groups has a part to play in player development and this achievement is a reflection of all their hard work, both on and off the pitch."
Meanwhile, Gareth Holmes’ Under-18 side finished in fifth place after their campaign suffered the same fate – Wigan Athletic took the championship in that division.
