Nottingham Forest sign Arsenal youngster as boss wants more attacking additions

Nottingham Forest have made Arsenal right-back Jordi Osei-Tutu their third summer signing.

The 22-year-old has penned a season-long loan deal from the Premier League giants as the Reds strengthen in a position where they are short of options.

He follows goalkeeper Ethan Horvath and attacking midfielder Philip Zinckernagel in linking up with Chris Hughton’s side.

And he makes the move ahead of Saturday’s first home league game of the campaign, against Bournemouth, with a Carabao Cup clash against Bradford to come before then, tomorrow night.

Osei-Tutu joined the Gunners from Reading in 2015 and signed his first professional contract later that year, with his current deal expiring in 2023.

Team news

Goalkeeper Ethan Horvath is set to make his Nottingham Forest debut on Wednesday night, in the Carabao Cup.

The American signed for the Reds last month, joining as a free agent after leaving Club Brugge, and was on the bench for Sunday’s opening league defeat at Coventry City.

But boss Chris Hughton is ready to throw him into the action when Bradford visit the City Ground, as he makes changes to his starting XI.

A number of young players will also be included in the first-team as the manager has one eye on the weekend’s clash with Bournemouth.

“He will start,” Hughton told NottinghamshireLive of Horvath. “He’s been good in training. He’s one who has settled in very, very well.

Signings wanted

Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton remains keen to bolster his forward resources before the transfer window closes.

The Reds have so far added goalkeeper Ethan Horvath and attacking midfielder Philip Zinckernagel this summer, with right-back Jordi Osei-Tutu becoming the club’s third new signing, on loan from Arsenal.

But with a need to get more goals from his squad, in a bid to challenge further up the Championship table, Hughton says further work will be done in the transfer market.

Bringing in a left-back is a priority, amid a shortage of options, along with strengthening in central midfield, as well as adding a striker.

McKenna's aim

Nottingham Forest defender Scott McKenna is determined to spend more time on the pitch rather than in the treatment room this season.

In his first year at the City Ground, the former Aberdeen centre-back was hampered by injury problems and made 25 appearances in the Garibaldi.

McKenna puts some of that down to not quite getting the balance right in his preparations as he adjusted to the move down from Scotland.

It is a lesson he has learned for his second campaign at the club, as he looks to be available on a more consistent basis for boss Chris Hughton.
