Nottingham Forest show 'substantial interest' in £2.6m-rated defender - reports

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Mali international defender Boubakar ‘Kiki’ Kouyate.

But it is said fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned club Olympiacos are also keen on the Troyes man, having reportedly been eyeing him up for some time.

Greek media outlet Sportime claims there is “substantial interest” from the Reds for a player who they suggest would cost 3m euros (about £2.6m).

Kouyate’s contract with his French team is said to expire in June 2022 and he is described as “one of the top players in the league”, attracting a lot of interest.

The 22-year-old has made 19 appearances for the Ligue 2 side this season, scoring six goals.

Sportime say: “He is one of the top players in the league. As a result, many teams from the first division of France have shown interest.

“And not only that, since they have even checked him out in England.

“He is an up-and-coming talent, but has already attracted the interest of many clubs.”

They add: “Olympiacos, based on French media, could be Kouyate’s next team.

“But there is Nottingham. Of which there is more substantial interest.

“Of course, the owner is the same and these… bumps can reasonably be made.”

They claim Marinakis has been in touch with Troyes chairman Daniel Masoni and say, “everyone is talking about a positive climate for the conclusion of the agreement”.
