Nottingham Forest show 'interest' in Manchester City loan star

Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson could be reunited with Morgan Rogers after the promising Manchester City winger was linked with a move to the City Ground.

Johnson and Rogers were teammates during their loan spells at Lincoln City last season and both were instrumental as the Imps reached the League One play-off final, where they lost 2-1 to Blackpool.

According to the Athletic, Forest’s interest in Rogers was triggered as they monitored Johnson’s progress at Sincil Bank.

The report adds that Forest would be open to a loan or a permanent transfer, with Rogers valued at around £9million by Man City.

After arriving at Lincoln during the January transfer window, Rogers predominately operated on the left side of a front three – with Johnson on the opposite side or in the number 10 role – but he also impressed in a central position at times.

The teenager was guilty of inconsistency– something to be expected of a young player – but Lincoln boss Michael Appleton kept him in the side as he regarded him as a “match-winner”.

Rogers popped up with a number of important goals, including a stunning long-range strike in a 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town and a headed winner in a 1-0 win at Portsmouth.
