Nottingham Forest should issue transfer 'warning' after Reds ace's heroics

Brice Samba is Nottingham Forest’s player of the season so far, for me.

Him and Matty Cash have been far and away our best players. No-one else even comes close to those two.

Samba has done ever so well since he came into the team. He’s a good kicker of the ball and he makes some tremendous saves.

He got us out of a hole against Wigan Athletic by keeping out the penalty. He did very well to stop that, and he rescued the three points for us.

The only thing I don’t like is that he’s very, very laid-back. A little too laid-back, I think. He’s so casual he makes me really nervous at times.

He’s made the odd bad decision, but most of the time he’s been brilliant for us and saved us a fair few points in games.

He is probably the best goalkeeper Forest have had since Mark Crossley.

As a defender, when you’ve got a goalkeeper behind you who you can trust, it makes a huge difference.

I was lucky, I had Peter Shilton behind me - he was world class.

If an opposition player managed to break through and was one-on-one, we’d expect Shilton to save it.

It’s important to have that confidence in your goalkeeper.

Samba has done so well, I wouldn’t be surprised if other teams start sniffing around him and having a look at him.

Every team wants a good goalkeeper because it’s such a key position.

But I’d be making it very clear that Brice Samba is not for sale. Teams can take one of the other goalkeepers off our hands, no problem. But Samba is ours. I'd be warning them not to even think about looking at him.

He’s proving to be one of the best signings of last summer and can be a key player if we’re going to be challenging for promotion. We need him.

Kenny Burns was this week talking to Sarah Clapson.
