Nottingham Forest set to revisit transfer link as January window looms

Nottingham Forest could revisit a previous transfer target, Paul Mukairu, in the January transfer window.

Winger Mukairu, 21, was linked with the Reds last summer while on loan at Anderlecht during the 2020/21 campaign.

According to The Athletic, it is reported he is still available for a potential move.

"Paul Mukairu, a 21-year-old Nigerian winger, was on the radar last summer and is still available from the Turkish club Antalyaspor," the report says.

At the time, Forest were looking to add strength to their squad, as they aimed to be more clinical in front of goal after scoring the third lowest amount of goals in the Championship last season.

But ultimately, he stayed at Antalyaspor and has so far made 16 appearances for the Super Lig this campaign.

According to Ajansspor, Forest even saw a £2million bid rejected by the Turkish side.

With the January transfer window set to open in a few days' time (January 1), the youngster is likely to still be on the radar of Dane Murphy, with forwards very much still a priority at the City Ground.

The Nigeria-born forward, however, is still under contract until the summer of 2024 and remains to be seen whether the Turkish outfit will be willing to negotiate a move this time around.
