Nottingham Forest set to make another January signing as transfer stance explained

Nottingham Forest are expected to make Steve Cook their second signing of the January transfer window within the next 24 hours.

And, as per our colleagues at DorsetLive, the centre-back is believed to be poised to join the Reds on a free transfer from Bournemouth, with a two-and-a-half-year deal on the table - subject to passing a medical.

If all goes as planned, the 30-year-old will follow on-loan Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis in linking up with Steve Cooper’s squad this month.

It will represent a positive start to the winter window for the Forest head coach and CEO Dane Murphy, with two new additions in the space of a few days.

Transfer questions answered

The January transfer window is now well and truly open, and Nottingham Forest have already started to get some business done.

Striker Keinan Davis became their first addition, when he joined on loan from Aston Villa, and defender Steve Cook is set to follow on a permanent deal from Bournemouth.

Boss Steve Cooper is keen to ensure the Reds get the right players in as they look to challenge for a top six spot in the second half of the Championship season.

Forest reporter Sarah Clapson discussed the latest goings on in a live Q&A on our Reds Facebook page. Here’s how it panned out.

Exciting 2022

Nottingham Forest will have to wait for their first game of 2022, after today’s clash with Barnsley was postponed.

The Reds were due to begin the new year against the Tykes at the City Ground, but a lengthy injury list and a number of coronavirus cases in the camp put paid to the Championship fixture.

There is still plenty for Forest fans to be excited about over the next 12 months, however, given the club are in a very different position to where they were this time last year.

With Dane Murphy at the helm and Steve Cooper in charge, it has the potential to be an exciting time ahead.

Great gesture

Nottingham Forest have donated more than 2,000 food items prepared for the postponed Barnsley match.

The scheduled bank holiday Monday match against Barnsley was postponed just over 24 hours before the scheduled kick-off due to a "combination of injuries and positive COVID-19 tests" in the first team, leaving Forest with "less than the minimum numbers of players available to fulfil the fixture".

As a result of the lateness of the postponement, food had already been catered for at the City Ground ahead of the first match of the New Year.

Instead of letting it go to waste the club have instead announced that the food has been donated to Betel UK's Nottingham Centre on Rawson Street and the Community Church.
