Nottingham Forest are expected to complete the signing of Malmo midfielder Fouad Bachirou later this week.
The 30-year-old will become the Reds’ fourth new addition of the summer, should he successfully pass a medical.
Bachirou was at French giants PSG’s academy as a youngster, before going on to join Greenock Morton.
He made more than 130 appearances for the Scottish side in a four-year spell from 2010 to 2014 and is said to have become something of a fans’ favourite during his time at the club.
He went on to spend three years at Ostersunds, then joined fellow Swedish side Malmo in 2018.
Reports in Sweden suggest Forest have agreed a £600,000 deal for the Comoros international.
Bachirou is described as a high-energy, box-to-box midfielder and is someone Reds head coach Sabri Lamouchi is understood to have been particularly keen to sign, with the club having tracked him for some time.
He is seen as an important piece of the jigsaw as Lamouchi prepares his team for a promotion push, with Forest believed to have received positive reports about his character from Greenock.
Should all go as planned, Bachirou will join Jack Colback, Tyler Blackett and Lyle Taylor in putting pen to paper at the City Ground.
Bolstering their midfield is seen as key for the Reds, with John Bostock and Alfa Semedo’s loan spells having come to an end and out-of-contract Ben Watson expected to move on.
Samba Sow also continues to struggle with a knee problem which he suffered with for much of last season.
