Nottingham Forest 'sent scouts' to watch midfielder in Spain

Nottingham Forest are said to have scouted midfielder Jeremie Bela in Spain.

The 26-year-old is now a free agent after his contract with Spanish second division outfit Albacete ran out last month.

According to the website Get French Football News, both the Reds and Championship rivals Birmingham City went to watch Bela in action last season.

Ligue 1 team Nantes and La Liga side Alaves are now being linked with a move for the attacker, who turned down the offer of a new deal at Albacete.

The report says: “During the 2018/19 campaign, scouts from Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest sent representatives to watch him, but on both occasions, he had difficult games and did not make an impression.”

Bela made 37 appearances for his club last term, bagging 12 goals. He previously played for Lens and Dijon, before making the switch to Albacete two years ago.

Born in France, he is able to play on either wing, as well as up front.

Forest have made two signings so far this summer, with Sammy Ameobi and Tiago Silva having put pen to paper – the latter being the first new addition since Sabri Lamouchi took charge.

They are on the verge of adding goalkeeper Arijanet Muric to the squad and reports over the weekend suggested the Reds would complete deals for Benfica duo Yuri Ribeiro and Alfa Semedo.
