Nottingham Forest sent relegation warning by former Reds striker

Nottingham Forest have started their 2021/22 Sky Bet Championship campaign the way they would have wished.

But securing their first win of the season after the opening seven games, may have just boosted their confidence for the remainder of the season.

Forest defeated Huddersfield 2-0 at the John Smith's Stadium as interim head coach Steven Reid took charge of the side before the Reds appointed Steve Cooper as the new boss.

The former Swansea City boss inherits a side that on paper has a good mix between youth and experienced players.

Fans' expectations will be understandably high from their new manager, who has shown in the past he can be successful at second tier level.

However, former Reds striker Nigel Jemson is still wary of what could be to come for his old team.

"I don't want to think about Nottingham Forest being in League One because I fear for them if that happens," Jemson told Football Fan Cast.

He drew a comparison with Sunderland, who have been in League One for some time.

"Sunderland, it’s been very hard for them to get back to where they should be or where people think they should be and that’s certainly the Championship, at the bare minimum," Jemson added.

"I fear for them (Forest) in the fact that the owner, (Evangelos) Marinakis, may not stay there long."
