Nottingham Forest sent Gustavo Scarpa message as rival emerges in transfer battle

Your Nottingham Forest headlines on Thursday, June 1.

Gustavo Scarpa message

There is 'no chance' of Gustavo Scarpa leaving Nottingham Forest this summer amid speculation of a return to Brazil, it is claimed.

The attacking midfielder arrived at the City Ground in January but has made just 10 appearances for the Reds due to a combination of injury issues and personal problems back home in Brazil.

His most recent appearance for Steve Cooper's side came in Forest's 2-1 defeat at Leeds back in April. He is yet to score or provide an assist for the Reds.

Forest face transfer competition

Crystal Palace are set to rival Nottingham Forest for the signature of Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi, it is claimed.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to the City Ground with reports claiming that the Blues want £10 million for the former England international.

Hudson-Odoi spent the second half of the season on-loan at German club Bayer Leverkusen but was unable to make an impact in the Bundesliga having provided just a single assist whilst failing to score during his time there.

Cooper could be decisive factor

Nottingham Forest legend Garry Birtles believe his old club are well placed to beat their rivals to their top transfer targets this summer.

The Reds secured a second season of Premier League football with a 16th placed finish after signing 30 players after promotion.

Birtles does not believe Forest will be anything like as busy this summer as he calls for them to add quality to the squad in order to ensue they are not in another relegation battle. Rivals will look to make additions as well, but the European Cup winner says the atmosphere at the club and among fans will be a pull factor.

Injury boost provided

Wales manager Rob Page has given an update on the injury status of Nottingham Forest defender Neco Williams.

The 22-year-old fractured his jaw after a freak clash with teammate Brennan Johnson during last month's 3-1 victory over Brighton. He was treated on the pitch before being taken to hospital and undergoing surgery.

Despite his injury, Williams has been called up to the Wales squad for June's Euro 2024 qualifiers against Armenia and Turkey. If he is to play, they will be his first games since being injured - having missed the closing weeks of the season for Forest.
