Nottingham Forest send eight-word message to fans amid coronavirus scare

Nottingham Forest have sent a brief message to supporters following the suspension of the English football season.

The Reds have had their season suspended until April 3 at the earliest, after the EFL board made the decision to postpone the next three weeks of the campaign due to the coronavirus outbreak, after an emergency meeting on Friday.

This would mean that the earliest Forest would resume their league campaign would be on April 4 against arch rivals Derby County.

Forest were due to face Sheffield Wednesday this weekend in the Sky Bet Championship, but the trip to Hillsborough as well as home fixtures against Huddersfield Town and Bristol City have been called off.

Manager Sabri Lamouchi sent a message to fans on Friday, where he said he “commends” the decision to suspend the campaign due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Lamouchi also used his message to wish the club’s owner, Evangelos Marinakis, a speedy recovery after testing positive for coronavirus earlier this week.

Now Forest have sent a message on Twitter to Reds supporters on Saturday morning, urging fans to “stay safe” as the country fights against the virus.

“We miss you,” the club tweeted. “Stay safe out there, Reds.”
