Nottingham Forest scarf 'stars' in Line of Duty following last week's Reds mug - so what's next?

Forest fans were excited to spot a Reds mug in the opening episode of cop drama Line of Duty (March 31) and it was more of the same last night (April 7) when a Garibaldi scarf was given pride of place in episode two.

Never mind the big question about the identity of 'H' hanging over the hit TV show - why is Nottingham Forest getting a starring role?

As reported by Nottinghamshire Live, it's all down to actor Kai Reid, who plays Josh in the series. The 11-year-old Forest fan from Toton is the nephew of Nottingham actress Vicky McClure and was put forward by the Bafta-winning Notts County fan to play the son of her character, DI Kate Fleming.

Her fiance is City Ground director Jonny Owen, who told the Post: "When a scene called for his character, Josh, to be seen with a football mug, producers were going to use a Chelsea or Man City one but Kai told them he was a Forest fan - so they bought one."

Last night, Josh was seen being tucked up in bed by mum Kate with a Forest scarf clearly draped over the top of the bed.

And Forest fans loved it.

"One thing we do know for sure in Line of Duty, the Forest scarf shows that Kate's son is being brought up the proper way #NFFC," joked Simon Leeson on Twitter.

"First the Forest mug, now the scarf. I'm expecting a Des Walker cameo next," said Abdi Moallim.

"Love that Vicky’s lad has a Forest scarf on his bed," added Tamar Feast.

Not everyone enjoyed it, though. Derby fan Suffolk Ram said: "Should be some sort of warning prior to Line of Duty. I mean I'm not squeamish but they showed a Forest mug last week and a scarf this week!. It's disgusting and repulsive and totally unnecessary."

"Imagine having to kiss your child under a Forest scarf if you are a County fan," said Andy Patterson.

Will we be seeing more Reds in Sunday's third episode? Only time will tell but what would you like it to be?
