Nottingham Forest say Fawaz Al Hasawi court case will not impact on plans for next season

Nottingham Forest say their dispute with former owner Fawaz Al Hasawi will not impact on their plans for next season.

The club have been ordered to pay £4.2m to the Kuwaiti, following a court case relating to the sale of the club in May 2017.

But Forest have responded quickly to reassure fans that it will not impact on their hopes of forging a promotion push in the Championship next season, under Martin O'Neill.

And they have hinted that they will explore their options, when it comes to a possible appeal over the ruling.

"The Club confirms that it has been engaged in litigation with Fawaz Al-Hasawi in order to resolve a dispute regarding the proper treatment of various payments and liabilities under the contractual documentation relating to the sale of the Club in May 2017," said a club spokesman.

"The dispute relates to detailed accounting evidence and the interpretation of the Share Purchase Agreement. The Club may seek further clarification of the position on appeal based on independent advice.

"The Club confirms that this litigation has no bearing on the long term position of the Club or its ability to operate."
