Nottingham Forest sanction transfer - and it could help Notts County

Nottingham Forest's promising young defender Riley Harbottle has joined National League rivals Wealdstone - and it could help Notts County's promotion push.

The centre-back has joined the Stones on a deal until April with the defender set to go straight into the squad which faces Weymouth on Saturday.

Wealdstone have some of the Magpies' promotion rivals still to play including the likes of Bromley, Boreham Wood and Hartlepool.

Forest have high hopes for the young defender as they confirmed his exit on the club website.

It read: "Nottingham Forest can confirm that Under 23s defender Riley Harbottle has joined National League side Wealdstone on a one-month youth loan.

"The Under 23s captain will join The Stones until the middle of April, with the centre back looking to gain his first taste of senior football.

"Harbottle, who has been with Forest since the foundation stage, will be available for seven of Wealdstone's fixtures during this period.

"The club would like wish Riley the best of luck for his loan spell."

Notts fans will hope the defender can make a big impact for the Stones particularly in the fixtures against those sides around them.

Neal Ardley's side are currently seventh in the league and are chasing a return to the EFL.
