Nottingham Forest sack Sabri Lamouchi

Nottingham Forest have sacked head coach Sabri Lamouchi.

The Reds axed their manager in the wake of a 2-1 defeat at home to Bristol City which left them without a Championship point after four games.

Lamouchi was in charge at the City Ground for 15 months, having replaced Martin O'Neill at the helm before the start of last term.

The Frenchman looked set to guide Forest into the play-offs last season, but they missed out on a place in the top six on the last day of the campaign.

The Reds have made a terrible start to the new term, losing all four of their opening league matches, to QPR, Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town and the Robins.

They were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Barnsley.

Forest put in a better second half performance on the banks of the Trent on Saturday afternoon, after Luke Freeman had handed them a lifeline before the break - scoring their first goal of 2020-21.

The hosts had gone 2-0 down in a poor first half, but although they came out fighting for an equaliser, opposition goalkeeper Daniel Bentley was in inspired form.

And it was Lamouchi who paid the price.

The Reds now have a two-week international break in which to start the process of searching for a new boss.
