Nottingham Forest sack Martin O'Neill

Martin O’Neill’s tenure at Nottingham Forest has been brought to an end.

The club have parted company with the Northern Irishman after barely five months in charge.

Forest are understood to have taken action following suggestions his relationship with senior players had deteriorated.

The timing of the decision comes the day before the club play their first pre-season friendly of the summer, against Alfreton Town.

It follows the departure of assistant manager Roy Keane, from his role at the City Ground.

The club are keen to make a swift appointment to replace O'Neill, with Sabri Lamouchi, the former manager of Rennes and the Ivory Coast, understood to be a leading contender.
