Nottingham Forest's Tyler Walker misses crucial penalty as Mansfield Town suffer play-off defeat to Newport

Newport County will contest the League Two play-off final after beating Mansfield Town on penalties.

The sides played out a 0-0 draw on Sunday after a 1-1 draw in the first leg and County prevailed 5-3 in the shoot-out.

Nottingham Forest loanee Tyler Walker missed the Stags’ third penalty, and Matt Dolan netted what proved to be the winning spot kick for the visitors.

Newport will now face either Forest Green Rovers or Tranmere Rovers in the final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, May 25, with the other semi-final clash decided at The New Lawn on Monday night.

The defeat means that Walker’s loan spell at the One Call Stadium has come to an end, as have Jorge Grant's and Jordan Smith's, both of whom had to settle for places on the bench on Sunday night.
