Nottingham Forest's Tyler Walker heading for biggest game of his young career in crunch promotion clash

Nottingham Forest's Tyler Walker will play the biggest game of his young career on Saturday.

The 22-year-old, who is enjoying a prolific loan spell with fellow Nottinghamshire side Mansfield Town, will lead the line for the Stags in their final day clash with MK Dons knowing that victory will see him celebrating his first career promtion.

The pair have held a closely contested race for the top three all season and are now joint on points in third and fourth in League Two, a division where the top three are promoted automatically.

Defeat to Nottingham Forest 'summed our season up' says QPR boss John Eustace

The winner on Saturday will be confirmed as a League One side for next season with the loser forced to chance their luck in the end of season play-offs.

It is Walker's Mansfield who have the slight advantage, though.

David Flitcroft's side know that a draw will be enough to see them promoted thanks to their superior goal difference, helped by Walker's 22 league goals.

His 22nd of the season came on Saturday, but it was not enough to prevent Mansfield from losing 2-1 to late play-off hopefuls Stevenage.

There has been plenty of discussion amongst Nottingham Forest supporters as to the quality of Walker who has more than demonstrated his quality during what has been his first full professional campaign.

Last season's top scorer in League Two, Coventry City's Marc McNulty, saw him make a high-profile switch to Reading but struggled to ever make an impact for the Royals.

All you need to know about Nottingham Forest assistant manager Roy Keane

He has since had to move north of the border to Hibernian to recapture his form.

Walker would need to score at least five at Stadium:MK to win the golden boot this season, but the youngster has certainly turned heads with his goals in the fourth tier.
