Nottingham Forest's pursuit of Portuguese starlet now 'closed' - report

Nottingham Forest’s reported pursuit of Portuguese midfielder Bruno Paz is said to have come to a close.

The Reds have been linked with a summer move for the Sporting Lisbon youngster, with suggestions they saw a 1.5m euros bid rejected back in May.

But Portuguese newspaper A BOLA claim, with an agreement unable to be reached, Paz is now likely to head elsewhere this summer, saying: “England will no longer be the destination.”

Paz is highly rated at Sporting. He has made just one senior appearance for the club, although has struggled with a knee injury this season.

He is under contract until June 2023, but seemingly could move on this summer as he seeks to make a breakthrough into first-team football.

A BOLA say Forest’s valuation is half the 3m euros for 70 percent of his rights that Sporting are after - and “negotiations have already been closed”.

It is said the 22-year-old has interest from elsewhere in Europe, with two German teams now said to be preparing offers for his services.

A loan switch is mooted as a possibility, with the clubs “having the option to purchase upon the achievement of some goals”.

Forest’s Championship rivals Reading and Brentford have also previously been linked, while Portuguese second tier sides could also be interested, it is said.

A BOLA say Paz has rejected offers from Brazilian sides Fortzaleza and Vera Cruz.
