Nottingham Forest's pre-season plans as they step up preparations for promotion push

Nottingham Forest will step up their preparations for the new season this week, with two behind-closed-doors friendlies.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side will face newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion on Saturday at St George’s Park, with a noon kick-off.

And before that, they are due to face Port Vale on Wednesday at Loughborough University, where they have been based this week.

The Reds played their first summer fixture at the weekend, when they were beaten 2-0 by Oldham Athletic at the Nigel Doughty Academy.

New signings Lyle Taylor and Tyler Blackett made their debuts, with 23 players featuring in total.

Matty Cash, Brice Samba, Lewis Grabban, Michael Dawson and Sammy Ameobi all got game time in the first half, before Lamouchi rung the changes at half-time.

After the break, a new side was fielded, featuring defenders Joe Worrall and Carl Jenkinson, as well as Albert Adomah, who spent the second half of last term on loan at Cardiff City.

Among others handed a run-out during the fixture were Nuno Da Costa, Joao Carvalho, Ryan Yates, Tobias Figueiredo, Yohan Benalouane and Tendayi Darikwa, along with younger players such as Alex Mighten and Tyrese Fornah.

Forest will hope to have another new face in place in time for at least one of this week’s friendlies, with midfielder Fouad Bachirou set to complete a move in the next few days.

The Reds have less than a fortnight before their first competitive game, when they face Barnsley in the Carabao Cup on September 5.
