Nottingham Forest's potential fixture list if Championship returns in July

It has been reported in recent days that the Premier League, EFL and FA are discussing the possibility of football resuming in July.

Nottingham Forest’s season has been halted due to the coronavirus outbreak, with football not due to resume until April 30, at the earliest.

It remains unlikely that the season will start back up again next month, and there have been calls from some quarters to have the campaign null and voided.

It has been reported by Football.London that a conference call between the Premier League, EFL and FA, which took place on Saturday, resulted in a fresh plan for completing the season.

The report states that the campaign would resume in July, with all matches played behind closed doors over a period of four to six weeks unless the situation worsens in the UK.

This will then take the teams more or less straight into the new season, but there will be some allowances made to try and help players and clubs cope with what would essentially be an extended 2020/21 season.

So how would that affect Forest as a whole and what would their revised fixture list look like?

The Reds currently have nine fixtures left to play in the league, meaning they could have to play close to every weekend and midweek in the proposed schedule.

If the fixture list was to follow the same format as was previously planned, Forest would play Sheffield Wednesday first when the season returns, as that was due to be their next match before the suspension.

They also have to play Huddersfield Town, Bristol City, Derby County, Fulham, Preston North End, Swansea City, Barnsley and Stoke City in their remaining fixtures.

Here's how the fixture list could look:

Wednesday, July 1 – Sheffield Wednesday (A)

Saturday, July 4 – Huddersfield Town (H)

Wednesday, July 8 – Bristol City (H)

Saturday, July 11 – Derby County (A)

Saturday, July 18 – Fulham (H)

Wednesday, July 22 – Preston North End (A)

Saturday, July 25 – Swansea City (H)

Wednesday, July 29 – Barnsley (A)

Saturday, August 1 – Stoke City (H)
