Nottingham Forest's play-off rivals release striker as part of big clear-out

Nottingham Forest's promotion rivals Brentford have released nine players.

Striker Justin Shaibu has left the club after four years in West London having spent the season on loan at Boreham Wood.

Brentford B players Reece Cole, David Titov, Matej Majka, Jonny Mitchell, Nick Tsaroulla, Jaden Brissett, Cole Dasilva and Jayden Onen have also left Griffin Park.

Shaibu has played 30 games in all competitions for Boreham Wood where he scored five goals.

Having joined Brentford's B-team he went on to play five games for the club having signed a three-year deal.

He leaves the club with one goal to his name having scored against AFC Wimbledon in a League cup tie.

Shaibu has also represented Denmark at Under-17s, under-18s, and under-20s.

Head coach Thomas Frank thanked Shaibu for his contribution.

“I want to thank Justin for his hard work and efforts during his time here with us," he told the club's official website.

"Unfortunately, things didn’t work out the way that Justin, or we, would have preferred.

"We strongly believe that Justin will have a good career ahead of him and we hope that he finds a club which will help him achieve that.”

Brentford are currently third in the Championship table while Sabri Lamouchi's Forest are in fifth. Both clubs are hoping to win promotion to the Premier League.
