Nottingham Forest's play-off rivals expect 'surprises' as club prepared to lose Reds-linked defender

Boss' message

Head coach Sabri Lamouchi wants Nottingham Forest to prove they are deserving of a play-off place in their final game of the season.

The below-par Reds missed a chance to guarantee a top six finish on Sunday as they were beaten by relegation-threatened Barnsley.

It means there is now a three-way shootout for fifth and sixth spot in the Championship on Wednesday night, with Forest, Cardiff City and Swansea City all in the running.

A point at home to Stoke City would do for Lamouchi’s men - and after a poor performance at Oakwell, he is eager for his players to show they are worthy of still being in the promotion mix.

Transfer talk

Oxford United are preparing to lose Rob Dickie this summer. That's according to their manager, Karl Robinson, who says he has been "blown away" by the size of some of the clubs who have tried to land the 24-year-old defender this summer.

Nottingham Forest are reported to be "leading the race" to land the former Reading man who has been in inspired form for the U's this term.

Southampton and Burnley have also been linked along with Derby County and Fulham.

Robinson's side came within touching distance of both automatic promotion and promotion via the play-offs in League One this season.

Swans' warning

Swansea City boss Steve Cooper believes there could yet be a few more “surprises” in the Championship, as his team aim to pounce on any final day slips by Nottingham Forest or Cardiff City.

The Reds and the Bluebirds are level on points, sitting fifth and sixth in the table, respectively.

Defeat for either in the last round of fixtures on Wednesday night could open the door for Cooper’s side to snatch a play-off spot at their expense.

The Swans are three points behind their rivals, in seventh. They need to beat Reading to stand any chance of gatecrashing the top six, and would require Forest to lose to Stoke City or Cardiff to fall to Hull City - as well as a swing in goal difference.

Striker's offers

Reported Nottingham Forest target Simon Terodde is said to have “received requests” to move to the Championship.

But it is claimed the FC Koln striker sees his future elsewhere, rather than a switch to England.

The Reds are among those to have been linked with the 32-year-old, along with second tier rivals Fulham and Blackburn Rovers, with Terodde said to be expected to leave Koln this summer.
