Nottingham Forest's lovely gesture goes global as key midfielder issues injury update

Injury update

Injured midfielder Samba Sow says it is “only a matter of time” before he is back in action for Nottingham Forest.

The summer signing has made a big impact since his arrival from Dynamo Moscow, but has been out of action for the past three weeks due to a hamstring problem.

Sow was forced off in the Reds’ 1-0 victory over Brentford before the international break and has missed the subsequent defeats to Wigan Athletic and Hull City.

Going global

Nottingham Forest have gone global! An act of generosity by the Reds after their postponed clash with Reading has made headlines around the world.

When Saturday’s Championship game against the Royals at the City Ground was called off due to a waterlogged pitch, the club made sure nothing went to waste and donated leftover food to local homeless charity Framework.

The news made it as far as Australia and America, making it one of Forest’s most far-reaching stories in recent years.

Duo's absence

Losing key players like Michael Dawson and Samba Sow would “hurt” any team, according to one of their Nottingham Forest teammates.

But midfielder Ben Watson says the duo’s absence cannot be used as an excuse for successive defeats.

“That’s what you’re squad is for - when players get injured and suspended,” said Watson.
