Nottingham Forest turn attention to key Barnsley man - report

Nottingham Forest are reportedly monitoring Barnsley midfielder Alex Mowatt, but he is unlikely to be a top priority during the January transfer window.

According to The Athletic , head coach Sabri Lamouchi is keen to strengthen the Reds promotion push with a striker and a winger with the club also picking out central midfielders such as former Leeds man Mowatt.

Forest, though, will adhere to Lamouchi's demands and try and sign players who fit the bill for the Frenchman.

The Reds have been linked with strikers Glenn Murray of Brighton and Hove Albion and Newcastle United's Dwight Gayle.

Forest are currently fourth in the Championship, nine points behind leaders Leeds United and West Bromwichn Albion who are on 52 apiece.

Lamouchi will strengthen his side this season as they seek to keep up their promotion charge, with a play-off place a very real possibility this season.

Mowatt has scored twice in 25 appearances this season. The 24-year-old broke into the Leeds side as a teenager before joining Barnsley in 2017, paying a key role in their promotion to the Championship.
