Nottingham Forest's Carabao Cup draw ball number revealed

Nottingham Forest will be ball number 23 in Thursday night’s Carabao Cup draw being held in a Morrisons store near to Wembley Stadium.

The four-time winners of the League Cup will get their campaign underway during the first week of the season in early August, and will be hoping for a similar outcome to last term when Bury were beaten in round one at the City Ground.

Forest enjoyed a good run to the fourth round in the competition until their hopes of going deeper into the tournament were ended when Nigel Clough masterminded a dramatic 3-2 victory for Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium in late November.

Prior to that defeat in Staffordshire, the Reds had beaten Premier League Newcastle and Championship rivals Stoke City on Trentside.

Forest will be one of 70 clubs which feature in the round one draw which will see teams drawn in Northern and Southern sections, as in 2018.

Matches are scheduled to take place week commencing August 12.

Huddersfield Town will be included, while fellow Championship newcomers Cardiff City and Fulham join the competition in round two alongside the Premier League clubs that are not competing in Europe.

Last season, the draw was broadcast  live on the internet from Vietnam  - and this time, fans can watch the draw whilst doing their shopping in-store, or on the Carabao Cup Facebook page.
